Evans Group invest in Preco Industries engineering excellence
It was following an in-depth business review that the need to find a better way of producing precision die-cut components was identified. Having heard of the Preco Press in trade papers and similar journals, Evans' contacted the UK office of Preco Industries and arranged to meet Mike Regan, Managing Director of Preco's European sales operation.
A visit was arranged to a UK based medical manufacturer where a Preco Press was in continuous operation, successfully die-cutting a reel fed product with startling accuracy. Registering off of printed fiducials, and being optically recognized, the Preco machine was consistently punching screen printed media with absolutely minimal stoppage time.
On the strength of the observations, and the confidence imparted by Preco's reputation as a world class equipment manufacturer, Evans Group decided to invest in a 24x12 X,Y,Z automated cutting press. Representing a considerable investment, the decision would mean that a serious rethink would have to take place in the planning and pre-production stages of any orders received. Confident this would not pose a problem to the experienced sales estimators, the deal was struck and completed very swiftly. The resultant installation took place over a period of three days some five weeks later.
Training was thorough, and dealt with most of the vagaries that the process would throw up. Three operators were trained, ensuring continuity of cover at all times. The Preco Press is now in full time operation, successfully producing precision cut (punched) parts for all business sectors.

In searching for a better way of producing finished parts, it was obvious that the Preco had the edge on the other machines in the market place. With Optical CCD registration, we can hit 0.0003" placement accuracy whenever we need to. With that kind of registration in our armoury, it gives us the confidence to pursue demanding print to cut orders, confident that we have the capability to complete from start to finish."
