The very idea of producing large quantities of graphic labels which might never be used was a real concern for Tekpro Ltd. They needed a sound solution to enable them to source limited numbers of high quality, multi-coloured decals which would perform in the field. Having contacted Evans Graphics to see what we might be able to offer them, we set about evaluating the best production method available for their needs.
With such a diverse range of options for us to choose from, we had to consider all of the possibilities and situations that the labelling would be exposed to when applied to the equipment. Ultimately we settled upon a digitally imaged approach, using a white polyester which would be receptive to the pigment rich inks we favour.
To ensure longevity we also wanted to overlaminate with a clear UV protection polyester. This would help to ensure that the image would last a reasonable time when exposed to sunlight. The choice of adhesives available to us allowed for a perfect selection to take place, and we were able to recommend a hi-strength 3M's acrylic tape which would adhere strongly to the equipment's fascia panel.
The printing, laminating, and digital cutting techniques we employ means that we can produce full colour graphics in very small numbers, perfect for when your own production orders are 1' s and 2's. We were able to image and finish the above graphic decal set quickly and easily without any fuss, or hard tooling. The finished set is presented to the client kiss-cut on a backing sheet, weeded and inspected ready for immediate use. With no wastage or out of date stocks to worry about, this was a real plus point for TekPro. Once they had seen the quality of the samples, there was no hesitation in moving the job forward.
The length of the longest decal on the set is some 400mm, and with this setting the page length we needed to use, it meant that the remainder of the decals could be fitted onto the same work sheet. This makes for a sensible working arrangement, with expensive set-up's reduced to an absolute minimum. The cost savings realised with this clever approach meant that Tekpro could afford to have the very best of industrial graphics, without stretching the budget!
