ARTUS™ Colour Coded Plastic Shim Materials

Circular Shims Artus™ materials provide for easy, reliable and quick recognition of their thickness by the colour. No need for a micrometer, so time is saved resulting in lower costs and greater dependability in assembly.

For many applications Artus™ can replace metal, as the quality, not only in the processing of raw materials is high, but also from the improved technology in providing differing performance characteristics than metals, e.g. folding endurance, chemical resistance, tensile strength. Artus™ also costs less than metal, and considerable cost savings can be gained with shorter delivery times and lower tooling costs.

Assorted Shimstock

Artus™ colour coded polyester can be supplied in sheets of varying sizes. Our stock sheet sizes are:

                               610 mm x 610 mm (24" x 24")
                               305 mm x 610 mm (12" x 24")
                               153 mm x 305 mm (6" x 12")

These can be supplied in mixed packs of varying thicknesses or multiple sheets of one thickness. Each pack comes with a free colour coding chart for easy identification.

Colour Coded Shims

We can manufacture virtually any shape or size of shim or spacer using Artus™ colour coded materials. The shims are manufactured to your drawing, or specification. Alternatively, send us a sample and we will measure and match to your requirement. Complex shapes can be produced without the need for expensive tooling; email us your computer files and we Lens shim can work with them. The shims are cut using computer controlled cutting blades to a high quality standard. Accuracy is assured throughout the thickness range, giving you a matching set of spacers for your mechanical or electronic equipment. The materials used are durable, long lasting and will not corrode or rust even in the most punishing of applications. Highly resistant to most chemicals, fuels or water, the shims may also be used in high temperature environments.

The minimum thickness of Artus™ shimstock is an incredible 0.012mm (0.0005 inches).
Thereafter sizes cover a complete range up to 1.5mm (0.060inches).

Shimstock is available with a thickness tolerance of +/- 5% up to 0.5mm and +/- 10% up to 1.5mm. For those specialist applications, we can also produce thicknesses of shim in clear or opaque material.
