Searching for an answer to her problem, Clare Barrette of Hutchinson Whampoa needed to produce a 6 page A4 folder with gusseted pockets and a Velcro fastener. Lead time was always going to be an issue, with only 5 working days available to complete the task. Artwork was ready, although incomplete and was sitting waiting on a Far East FTP server.
The Solution
Having contacted Evans Graphics, a price was swiftly agreed to manufacture the urgently needed presentation folders for an important launch event, and the 45Mb artwork was pulled out of the FTP site within 10 minutes. Production had to work swiftly to overcome the small issues that threatened to jeopardize the successful throughput, and managed to overcome the niggling problems that seemingly always want to come out of the woodwork when time is short (last minute alterations, copy changes etc). Using in-house skills and equipment the 1000 off folders were now set to become a reality.
Plates were made and materials sourced, before a very clean four colour front / one colour back image was litho printed over the weekend, ready for die-cutting and creasing on the Monday morning. The die-maker had literally hours to make the new cutting forme required. Assembly was tricky, as a gusseted pocket will always need care and attention to make it sit right, but working carefully to plan, a small team of three finishing staff painstakingly made up the folders for dispatch.
The Result
By Tuesday mid-afternoon the urgent quantity of 75 was completed, inspected and packed for courier dispatch to a West London Hotel, where the client was anxiously waiting for the folders to be delivered, in order to insert all of the other printed matter to be used that evening. With minutes to spare, the delivery was made, and Clare was able to fulfill her seemingly impossible task with a great result. The remaining balance of the order was dispatched a few days later, however, this was on a large pallet containing some 38 cartons of made up folders, let's hope they had storage space to cope!
