When involved in the building of a major public works project, UK leaders Black and Veatch contacted Evans Graphics to assist in the provision of unique valve and gate tag identifiers for the recently opened Dublin Bay Waste Water Treatment Works. Every single valve, gate, screen and filter needed to have a robust and extremely durable uniquely marked ID label present. No mean feat when you consider the many hundreds of individual items to be identified.
The Solution
Using our high-resolution laser engraving system as the most effective method of marking, we proposed to take the digital information from the client in the form of a spreadsheet, which we then worked into suitable tables. This allowed us to then quickly and accurately laser image the file's contents straight onto a 3.0mm exterior grade white/black ply material. With all of the information used as originally supplied by the client, there were no opportunities for errors, which could have been caused by re-keying. The material used was an exterior grade product, more than capable of lasting outside in the typical Irish maritime climate.
The Result
All of the identification labelling was produced to a very high standard, complete with fixing holes where required. Product consistency was kept throughout the run, and repeatability is extremely easy in the event of requiring additional pieces or damage replacements. For the client, a painless way of securing individually numbered tags without the usual high cost associated with traditional engraving.
