Sound and innovative ideas were required from Evans Graphics when they were called in to assist with the production of Steinberg Media Technology's latest generation of portable sound mixing desks.
Evans Graphics initial brief was to manufacture a simple polycarbonate overlay to cover a flat metal panel. This soon changed to producing an overlay that would fit around an elaborate three-dimensional metal panel, and which could be manufactured first to accommodate the complex shapes, holes, studs and LCD positioning of the sound mixing controls.
"When we were asked to produce the overlay for Steinberg's portable sound desks, we said "not a problem!" But as our discussions progressed we realised that this exciting new product called for innovative ideas," says Evans Group Sales Manager, Martin Birkhead.
Evans Graphics spent a total of three months conducting research until they had identified the very best materials for the manufacture of the overlay - materials rugged enough to print and hold during the lamination of a pre-cut adhesive gasket, and able to withstand cutting to tolerances of +/- 0.1mm before being bonded to the pre-formed panel.
The months of hard work and research has now paid dividends, and Steinberg Media Technology's new portable sound mixing desk has begun production in the UK for sale to the United States of America. |
