Being given difficult tasks and special "one off" items to engrave or laser mark is always a challenge. We were asked to help out with a Christmas gift that needed to have the horses name marked into the leather across the nose band. Quite a challenge considering that the bridle was fully assembled, and would not lay flat to be placed in the laser cabinet!
However, with a bit of careful planning and a judicious approach to the job in hand our master engraver Graham quickly had the measure of the stiff leather bridle (perhaps more experienced than he was letting on?). Having disassembled the numerous straps and buckles Graham was able to get the nose band to lay flat, and once that was sorted, then the real business of setting the type to fit between the stitching could be addressed. You can see from the above image that the powerful 1200dpi laser cut beautifully through the new leather and left a really sharp finish to the letters, complete with serifs too!
We think Chessie will be rather pleased with his new bridle! For personal attention to your own laser engraved leather goods, please feel free to ring or email us via the contact page.
