Participation in Training for the Future
Twice a year we organise week long attendances for local schools, to help youngsters experience the manufacturing industry. Pupils who have expressed an interest in printing / manufacturing are given the opportunity to work under supervision in the production area, whereby they get to see first hand how we go about our daily business. All participants are shown the mechanics of our processes, and are actively encouraged to get involved by designing a project that they can work on throughout the week.
Starting in the Studio, a design is created which ultimately is fashioned into a finished article by the end of the week. Pupils are shown how to plan and consider the implications of their actions at every stage. From the Studio the pupil is taken through the various departments over the course of the week, and this allows them to play a part in the success of their idea.
Here the pupil is seen having tuition and hands-on training in the art of screen printing and then onto the RF welding table to fabricate what turned out to be a luxury gilt cornered, bespoke binder, featuring a very colourful image of Winnie the Pooh! The experience and education for both pupil and trainer is often widely praised from both sides. |
